Many people, particularly females, treat hair as if it is the most important aspect of their physical appearance. They pay a significant amount of attention to maintaining their hair and they always ensure that it is well cared for and healthy. Nevertheless, as a result of a variety of factors, many people endure the problem of hair loss.
Usually, every person will lose about 100 hairs strands each day. However, people who suffer from excessive loss of hair that are causing bald spots are probably suffering from excessive loss of hair. Hair loss can be caused by a number of factors that includes medical conditions, and genetics. People who have a family history of hair loss are much more prone to suffering from this condition, which is the genetic component of hair loss. In addition, hormonal imbalances may also result in the temporary loss of hair. There are various medical conditions, such as an infection of the scalp, or problems with the thyroid gland that also have links to losing hair.
There are a number of different conditions that a particular individual may have that will result in hair loss. A condition that has the characteristics of the thinning or loss of hair on the crown of one’s head is called androgenic alopecia. Alopecia areata is a form of hair loss that happens due to an auto immune problem that attacks hair follicles. Traction alopecia occurs when the follicles of the hair are damaged as the result of too much tension on the hair. Traction alopecia typically occurs in individuals that frequently have tight braids.
Hair loss may affect the psychological state of people who experience it. It may decrease a person’s self-esteem. It also has an effect upon the way a female perceives her beauty. A condition that results in hair loss can cause a woman to have feelings that they are less desirable and attractive. Some people have a tough time coping with this and they suffer from stress, denial, and shame. In some instances, a person may develop mood disorders, social phobia, and depression.
Luckily there are treatment options available to people that have problems with hair loss. Many dermatologists will use minoxidi. Minoxidil will stimulate hair growth in many individuals. There are also devices that are laser operated such as brushes and combs that have had some efficacy in the stimulation of hair growth. In addition, finasteride and corticosteroids are also medications that are prescribed for various hair conditions. In addition to medications, there are also some other medical procedures that are used for hair loss including, scalp reduction and hair transplantation.
Your hair should be taken care of properly since it has a very important role in your appearance. If you are suffering from any form of alopecia, it is vital that you first attempt to identify the root cause of your hair loss prior to seeking a specific treatment. In the interest of safety, it is best to seek the advice of a dermatologist regarding the treatment that is appropriate for your specific condition.
