The Causes, Prevention and Treatments For Hair Loss


The average adult scalp has been known to house over 100,000 hair follicles in all. On a daily basis, your scalp actually loses about 100 hairs, which can then start to grow back within five or six weeks time. For some people, the hair may not grow back quite as fast or as thick as it used to once the aging process begins to take hold.

Knowing what some of the causes of hair loss are and working on ways that you can prevent it may give you a thicker, fuller head of hair.

It goes without saying that one of the main reasons why people will start to notice hair loss is the aging process that takes place within the human body.

While it is basically unavoidable, you can work to slow down the aging process by making sure that you have a healthy diet that is filled with all of the good stuff including green leafy vegetables, complex carbohydrates and of course quality fatty acids that can aid in hair growth.

If for some reason you find that you are deficient in certain minerals, you can begin to notice that you are starting to lose hair or you will see that there is a big difference in the life of the hair that you do have.

People who are deficient in various minerals such as iodine, zinc and magnesium can start to notice that they are starting to fall victim to hair loss. When your body is starting to lack some minerals, you could run the risk of poor blood circulation.

This poor circulation can have a dramatic impact on not only hair growth but can also start to become dangerous for your overall health.

Today, there are certain medications and illnesses that can start to take a toll on your hair health or even the amount of hair that you are able to maintain.

Common medications that have been known to list hair loss as a side effect include warfarin, heparin, amphetamines and lithium. Certainly, even if you are finding that hair loss is a side effect that you are dealing with, stopping the medication or completing your course of treatment should leave you to normal hair growth once again.

A lot of people are now finding that smoking and consuming alcohol and drugs can have a direct impact on the way that their hair grows and regrows once it is lost.

Generally speaking, people that lead a chemical free lifestyle and do not have the addition of free radicals taking a toll on their hair will often have a better head of hair overall.

When you want to work on your hair growth and get your scalp back to its healthy state, you can begin by introducing the right vitamins, minerals and foods into your daily routine.

Of course, there are a lot of natural remedies out there that have been proven to work as a hair loss treatment. In addition to that, you can talk with your physician or salon professional about topical treatments that can be used to help you stimulate your scalp and promote hair growth.
