When you want to lose weight, it does not mean that you should stop eating. On the contrary, you should eat what your body needs in order to keep it well-nourished. You want to keep your calories down when you are trying to lose weight.
That means every bite of food that you take should be packed with nutrients with very little empty calories. Here are some great suggestions in healthy recipes for weight loss.
Everyone knows that vegetables are the healthiest things that you can eat in a diet. They are naturally low in calories. They are rich in a wide variety of nutrients and antioxidants.
However, just eating vegetables will often not give you the satisfaction that you need to fill an appetite. You need to pair a vegetable with a protein, with a high quality source of carbohydrates.
One good breakfast recipe is a omelet with broccoli and feta cheese. Chop the broccoli into small pieces, then saute them in a non-stick pan. In a separate bowl, combine two beaten eggs and two tablespoons of crumbled feta cheese with a little bit of dried dill.
Pour this mixture into the pan with the broccoli and make your omelet. The fiber in the broccoli and the protein from the eggs in this low-cal breakfast will keep your appetite satisfied all morning.
For lunch, how about some noodles with salmon and avocado? A lot of people on diets shy away from carbs, like pasta and noodles.
However, if you eat pasta made from whole grains, those are healthy carbs that can boost your metabolism. Boil some whole wheat noodles and set aside.
Boil a few stalks of asparagus in the same water until tender, and cut into bite-size pieces. Grill a six-ounce piece of salmon fillet, cut into about eight pieces.
Make a vinagrette by combining a tablespoon of sesame oil, a bit of salt and pepper, and the zest and juice from a couple of limes. Toss that with the noodles and asparagus. Add some cucumber pieces and avocado chunks.
Finally, top it off with the salmon. This makes a hearty lunch that is packed with nutrients without very many calories.
Healthy recipes for weight loss can apply to desserts as well. Try dipping banana pieces into a chocolate dip made from melted semi-sweet chocolate pieces.
Bananas provides what is known as a resistance starch, which is a carb that helps you burn calories. Semi-sweet chocolate have monounsaturated fats which are healthy fats. This is a delicious dessert even for people who are not dieting.
Try different healthy recipes for weight loss to find your favorites. The key is find something that includes the foods you like.
There is no need to starve yourself when there are so many delicious and healthy choices that you can explore. When the healthy foods are things that you like to eat, you will have more success sticking to your diet. That means better success in your losing weight.
