If you've been dealing with “cottage cheese” on your thighs, chances are you're interested in getting rid of cellulite. This uneven appearance on your hips, thighs, or abs can make you feel self-conscious about the way you look. But you don't have to just accept it.
There are several ways you can work to get rid of cellulite – or at least reduce how much cellulite you can see. Many of them are simple and some are more complex and require working with a healthcare provider.
The first thing you can do is look at your lifestyle. While cellulite is really a genetic problem, it can be exacerbated by lifestyle issues. For example, if you've put on a lot of weight recently, your cellulite may have become more noticeable.
So, the first step would be to make sure that you're at the best weight possible for you. You'll want to make sure that you’re eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of exercise. You'll want to focus on exercises that add muscle tone to the areas of your body that are affected by cellulite.
Drinking a lot of water can help to keep your skin hydrated and flush fat from your body. Eating foods rich in antioxidants can also help you to have firm, beautiful skin. Another risk factor for cellulite is stress.
By working to reduce stress you can actually affect how your body stores fat. Stress reduction ideas include better time management, meditation, and yoga. You'll find that not only do you look better - you'll feel better, too.
If you take hormonal birth control, you may also want to consider changing your methods. These can actually increase the appearance of cellulite on your body. You may not be willing to change this part of your lifestyle, but if you are you may see results.
If you've exhausted your lifestyle changes – or if you just aren't able to make them right now – you may want to look at some other types of therapies for cellulite. The easiest type of treatment includes products you can add to your skin.
There are several creams and gels that can be applied to the areas of cellulite and help to improve its look. These creams generally work by helping to firm the skin, which will cause the cellulite to be less noticeable.
By seeing a dermatologist you may be able to participate in laser treatments or even liposuction to help reduce the appearance of cellulite. These treatments are much more expensive, but if you're serious about getting rid of cellulite they can be effective.
