Five Ways To Boost Your Child’s Health

As parents, we all want what is best for our children, and this includes keeping them happy, safe, and healthy throughout their lives. In some cases, embarking on a health journey can be tricky, and it can be hard to know where to start.

Fortunately, we have put together a few tips and tricks to help keep your child healthy and happy, and a happy child equals a happy parent!

Get Some Sunshine

We all know about the importance of wearing enough sunscreen, and there is no denying that too much exposure to the sun can be dangerous for your child.

Despite this, it is still important that your children catch some rays when the weather allows.

The sun's rays give our bodies that all-important Vitamin D. This is essential to good health and overall wellbeing, helping prevent a number of illnesses, such as rickets.

It is also important for healthy bone and immune system development. Experts believe the majority of children are bordering on being deficient in Vitamin D.

Get your kids outside as much as you can. Don’t be afraid of the sun.

A good hat can be a great way to balance sun safety while still getting Vitamin D.

Move Your Body

Exercise is important for all of us, no matter our age. Make sure your children have a chance to move their bodies at least once a day. This can involve running around, climbing, skipping, or even a long walk. The important thing is to get their heart rate elevated and blood pumping.

According to experts, we all need at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise each day to stay fit and healthy.

Raise Water Babies

On a similar note, it’s also good to let your children spend time swimming. This activity is amazing for strong bone and muscle development, and is an essential life skill. If you can only afford one extra-curricular, make it swimming lessons.

Let Them Be Little

As a parent, it can be tempting to structure every moment of our children's lives in order to give them the most possible opportunities. Sometimes, however, the most valuable growth and lessons come from simply allowing your kids to be kids.

Take them to the park and just watch them play. You will be amazed at what you both learn.

Plant A Muddy Garden

Mud is not the enemy, it’s a friend. Allow your children to get close to nature by planting your very own garden and watching it grow. This is also a great way to help your children learn about nutrition and where their food comes from!

Final Thoughts

Keeping your child healthy is a number one concern, and there are a number of ways you can achieve this with minimal fuss. Just a few simple changes can transform their lives and set them on the path to a healthier future.

Developing Mental Toughness in Life

Every generation believes that the generations that follow lack grit and mental toughness.

It’s debatable whether this is true, but one thing is for certain: there’s a lot of value in having a high level of mental toughness.

Mental toughness carries the day more often than not. If you have a history of making big plans but falling short, improving your mental toughness might be just what you need.

Mental toughness is the combination of resilience and confidence. Anyone would do well to have more of these traits.

Mental toughness is a learnable skill:

1. Learn to focus. Part of mental toughness is the ability to focus. This involves actively keeping your attention on one thing while avoiding any distractions.

It means putting your attention on the thing that matters, no matter how boring or unpleasant it might be.

2. Meditate. Meditation is a great way to develop mental toughness. It simultaneously builds your focus, perspective, patience, and the ability to emotionally detach.

Meditating for any significant length of time is a true mental feat.

3. Develop a bigger perspective. If you treat each challenge in life as a matter of life and death, your mental toughness will be quite poor.

Understand that your life is short and that your greatest failures and triumphs are unlikely to be relevant in the grand scheme of things.

4. Learn how to detach. Learn to separate yourself from your failures and the challenges of life.

Personalizing everything is to work from a position of weakness. Anything that challenges you is just a puzzle to be solved. It doesn’t have to be drama-filled.

5. Practice patience. There are plenty of opportunities to practice patience each day.

Whether you're waiting for someone or standing in line, build your patience each day to a higher level. You can't be mentally tough if you can't be patient.

6. Learn to be a finisher. One great test of mental toughness is the ability to finish tasks. Many of us find an excuse to quit a task before it is 100 percent complete.

You can build your ability to finish tasks by simply finishing what you start. Resist the urge to quit something before it is complete.

7. Do challenging things. Challenge yourself each day. There are a variety of ways to do this. You can either do something that is intellectually challenging, or you could do something that you dislike.

You could even do something that you fear. Challenging yourself regularly is a powerful way of building your mental toughness.

8. Give yourself physical challenges. Dealing with physical discomfort can be the ultimate challenge for many people. Physical fatigue is enough to make just about anyone quit.

Increasing your ability to push through physical discomfort will show you just how tough you can be.

* When Navy Seal recruits fail to keep up with swims or runs, they get an extra session of that activity while everyone else is resting.

This isn’t to increase their fitness. It’s to show them that they could have been pushing themselves even harder.

9. Take a break. Even the mentally strongest need a break now and then. Your willpower needs replenishment from time to time. Regular breaks can boost your mental toughness.

How tough are you? How much better would your life be if you were twice as tough mentally? Mental toughness has been shown to be a significant factor in all types of endeavors, including business and sports.

Increase your ability to overcome any obstacle or adversity. Improve your ability to deal with pressure. Develop the mental toughness required to reach the level of success that you desire.
