Index: Warren’s Notes :HiBelow, in our Optimal Health Tip, we have a list of 10 things that will help you stay healthy and live longer. The list is unaccredited, wisdom for the ages, built from other people’s experience over time. When I was young, I used to listen to motivational speakers. Now I’m in my 60’s it’s a good time to see what outcomes that produced. Many of the important things in our lives that we experience day by day are the result of actions we took in the past, often a long time in the past. The Health Success Site talks about wellness and nutrition. I remember years ago hearing someone say that “most people spend more time planning their holidays than planning their retirement”. Sure, life can throw you challenges and things can get challenging and mixed up at times but if you do not have a destination in mind then the normal outcome is to be pushed around by circumstances and not reaching where you want to be. Personally, I never planned to receive a pension and have planned my own activities with that in mind. I’m not talking about not doing things. That is another point in the list below. Of course, those ideas apply directly to our health. The decisions we make now, or the decisions we do not make, will have a direct effect on our quality of life as we age. Hopefully you will find information here in our newsletter and looking through The Health Success Site about nutrition and keeping healthy that will aid you in your own journey and we wish you well on your path. Warren. Optimal Health Tip:Your chances of staying healthy and living a long time can be improved if you:1. Stay physically, mentally, and socially active. 2. Eat a nutrient dense diet of small frequent meals, including 5 to 9 helpings of fruits and vegetables a day. Don't over eat, even "good" food! 3. Get regular health check-ups and screening tests for heart disease and common cancers (skin, colon, lung, prostate, breast, cervical). Don't delay seeing your doctor for new symptoms, especially over 40! 4. Avoid overexposure to the sun and cold, don't smoke (it's never too late to quit), drink in moderation and don't drink and drive! 5. Practice safety habits at home to prevent falls and fractures. Always wear your seat belt in a car. 6. Keep or develop a spiritual belief system that enables you to re-negotiate life at every turn, adjusting to and accepting the inevitable losses and changes
that come with longevity. 7. Cultivate (or keep) a love of and appreciation for life and others, and a positive, yet realistic, attitude. Don't sweat the small stuff. Do the things that make you happy. NOW! 8. Keep personal and financial records in order to simplify budgeting and investing. Plan long-term housing and money needs. 9.
