Hi there Thank you for subscribing to "Your Health Success" ezine, delivered to your inbox every month. I hope you enjoy the e-zine as much as I do writing it. For many of us, New Year is about review of the year gone, and then review of what we might like to achieve in the coming year. I mentioned last month that I need to focus personally on health and fitness this year. I looked at this in December and decided that it was best to set any changes, enjoy Christmas and New Year, and then have a clear time in January for plans and decisions for 2025. I remember Jim Rohn, motivational philosopher, used to say that: “great moments do not happen by
accident. You don’t see the sunrise from the top of the mountain unless you have been climbing through the pre-dawn. You don’t sit back in a loverly garden to relax unless you have been doing the work with the landscaping and care of plants to create that environment.” Time pressure led me to setting aside gym time for a period. During the last few months I’ve also put on additional weight. Pretty easy to do, pretty easy not to do. That’s the advantage of taking a bit of time to consider what you need for your own personal health and wellness, and how that can best fit into your own lifestyle. Personally, I am adding a few other things: walking 10,000 steps a day
(mostly with my old labrador dog), stretching exercises each day to loosen up my lower back, keeping track of water usage to ensure minimum 2 litres a day, majority of days in the week without chocolate or soft drinks, and finally, aiming to have at least 8 hours of sleep regularly. None of those things are a big deal by itself but, together, building them up over time, they are enough to build fitness again, drop this extra weight, free up joints, keep well.
